17 | How to Make an Impression on LinkedIn

My impressions on LinkedIn skyrocketed by 1 million % in the past year.

To be fair, that’s really just 65, 729 impressions in total.

You may think that number is small.

Or pretty decent.

For me, it’s insignificant.

Why?

My goals when I started posting on LinkedIn were simple:

  1. Post once a week, no excuses

  2. Connect with creators, founders & gamechangers

  3. Learn from exceptional people, then share their stories, habits and mindsets

The only numbers game I was playing was consistency.

So since November last year, I’ve:

  • Learned how to turn writer’s block into a myth,

  • Met at least one awesome person each week, and

  • Interviewed legends including Dan Brockwell, Tim Noakesmith, Niamh Sullivan.

Writing on LinkedIn has also created unexpected ROI, like…

Landing an internship for a role I wasn’t applying for

(but was actually more passionate about).

So what have the past 4 months taught me?

That “quality over quantity” really means…

Celebrate the qualitative wins, not just the quantitative ones.

And the next time you’re looking at your impressions, don’t just think numbers.

Think about the impression you’ve made on people.

That’s what truly matters.
